My friend Howard Kayne through me a bone on this one. We were both working for Rathe Productions in NYC but he was buried with other work and so tossed me this little project. This was early in the days of 8mm video and Sony was looking for ways to demonstrate the technology. They came to Rathe look to have a small cart built that could be rolled onto a tennis court or golf tee during lessons.
A pure design prototype the basic box was made of MDF - the techie pattern routed into the board. The screen hood was thermoformed acrylic painted yellow.
FOOTNOTE
The handful of lead men that had been with Rathe for years were just incredible. Experienced, playful, tough these guys new their stuff and on a regular basis saved the ass's of project and account managers.
